Lights, camera, ACTION! Here we are at the beginning of a really fun webcomic. Doc Monster is my tribute to all of the 1950’s sci-fi movies that I love. Inside there is action, mystery, horror, suspense, romance and comedy…everything that makes a story great. Originally, this story started back in 2009 and was put on… Continue reading Doc Monster in Shadow of the Skies!
I like how the clutter on this table tells a little story without even showing much. Plus, I like the phone in the background.
Our first look at CIA Agent, Carson Clay. A man with stuff on his mind, apparently. ANSWER THE PHONE, CLAY!
So, here we learn some things about Agent Clay. He’s funny, he’s a bit jaded, and he’s experienced. I imagine he doesn’t care for Agent Gresham much.
Interesting questions in this panel. Why did they pick Clay for this? Is it because he is experience, or expendable?
Clay is a man that I imagine must be used to being called out in the middle of the night. He certainly has a better attitude than I would have. The line about the “Chattanooga Koo-koo” is a reference to the “Chattanooga Choo-choo” song. Not that it makes much difference…
This is Carol, by the way. I like the way her face turned out here. It’s tough to pull off a woman’s face that has to be attractive, retro, intelligent and mysterious, all while seeming very human.
Ah, Doc. This is probably my favorite picture of him. He’s a tough guy to capture sometimes, but this picture has his aloofness, charm, intelligence and ego all in a single panel. Isn’t his hair weird? I’m not sure how that would work in real life.
I LOVE this panel. The map in the back not only gives the piece a vintage feel, but it also goes from Virginia on the right, to Kentucky on the left. All that, AND it doesn’t distract from the conversation.
A nice little interaction between Carol and Carson while they stop for gas. They seem oblivious that Doc is in the background, just watching them. I wonder what he’s thinking?
